Benedikt, MSc Sustainable Environmental Management graduate

After attending a postgraduate open day, I was drawn to the flexibility of the MSc course. I appreciated being able to tailor my studies to the areas of sustainable environmental management I felt most strongly about. As I progressed through the MSc, the skills and perspectives I developed helped me realise that I wanted to pursue doctoral research.

Practical learning

MSc Sustainable Environmental Management has proved very attractive to employers because of the vocational relevance of the teaching programme in tackling the environmental issues of the 21st century. You’ll develop the knowledge and practical skills that employers across the environmental sector are actively seeking.
Our work placements have proved very successful with up to 20% of graduates from our programme annually securing employment through their placement providers.

I have a strong interest in climate change and policy and the some of the modules on these topics were highlights of the programme for me, along with the opportunity to complete a placement with Plymouth City Council in the climate change team. I cannot thank the lecturers on this masters enough for the knowledge and skills I gained, and the continued support.

After her placement experience and completing the MSc, Claire went on to work as a Climate Change Officer in Scotland.
Placements in the environmental sector will give you an invaluable insight into the environmental business sector and, in many cases, has led to permanent positions being offered by employers.
