What motivated you to apply for the Catalyst course?
The main reason I applied for the Catalyst course was that I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. For many Chinese students, it is hard to find an opportunity to expand their social circle when they only stay with a few friends. Although they want to make more friends with students from other countries, it is difficult for them to take the first step. The Catalyst course was a very good chance to make a change and learn about different values.
How would you describe the Catalyst course?
It was such a fantastic and special experience. Firstly, I have never been so close to nature and thought about the relationship between it and human beings. Also, I had all my Catalyst friends which was the most precious thing for me. We came from different countries and had different backgrounds, but we treated each other with honesty and respect.
What have you learnt about yourself?
Catalyst helped me find my self-leading path and direction. In this period, I discovered some of my strengths, like being encouraging, optimistic and tough. After attending Catalyst, my confidence has increased and I’m not so afraid of failure. In life, we may experience failures and disappointments in job interviews or working life, therefore, a strong mind is necessary. Even in the University, you need to be confident in yourself and never give up so that you can achieve the things you want.
If you could change anything about the course, what would it be?
I wish it could be longer because it was so hard to say goodbye.
