“Catalyst gives you a new perspective on yourself and what your impact could be on the world, whilst bringing you closer to nature.”

What motivated you to apply for the Catalyst course?

The course taster session showed me that the Catalyst course could help with my business and personal goals whilst teaching me more about sustainability.

How would you describe the Catalyst course?

Catalyst gives you a new perspective on yourself and what your impact could be on the world, whilst bringing you closer to nature.

What have you learnt about yourself?

I learnt that I allow the various relationships in my life to take up too much time and that my big thinking can often end up limiting my progress instead of helping it. I also rediscovered how much I enjoy being outdoors.

How do you think the Catalyst experience will enhance your future employability?

It has helped me continue seeking knowledge which can guide how I make decisions and therefore what impact I have on situations and problems placed in front of me. This should make me a more valuable, self-leading asset.

How has doing Catalyst enhanced your studies at Plymouth University?

It’s made me more interested in getting involved with what the university has to offer. I really believe the Catalyst course and other experiences like it can really make a difference in how a person thinks once they leave university.

What were your highlights from the Catalyst experience?

The morning exercises were great; I really enjoyed meeting people who were completely different to me. The best part for me though was sitting by the campfire singing songs. We don’t do those kind of things where I’m from.

How would you summarise your Catalyst experience?

It was completely new. What I got out of it depended on me and how willing I was to participate. Once you get over the awkwardness of not really knowing anybody there and being in an unfamiliar environment, you’re able to connect and share with people in a very open and honest way. It was pretty challenging but there’s no doubt I would do it again.
