"Be open to trying new things. Even if you are shy, I would encourage international students to make it a goal to get out of their comfort zone and meet new people."

Outstanding international reputation

"I was initially drawn to the University because of its outstanding international reputation for marine based courses.

The more I did my research, the more I became captivated by the modules and the wide opportunities for hands on experience through lab works, boat works, computer practicals and field trips."

Exploring the local area

"Going hiking in the countryside, as well as visiting nearby towns and cities, has by far been the best and most exciting thing that I have done whilst studying at the University of Plymouth."

Adjusting to a new culture

"I am from a small tropical island (Seychelles), so the weather in the UK is different and took a while for me to adjust. The food, music, clothes and accents also differ, so it has definitely been a period of many firsts for me."

"Being a student at the University of Plymouth is honestly beyond amazing!"

"There are plenty of sports clubs and societies to choose from based on your interests that are the perfect way to meet new people.

I wholeheartedly recommend that every international student joins at least one of these student groups. I can testify first-hand that my university experience would have been a lot different if not for sports clubs and societies!"

A university with everything you need

"I would recommend the University of Plymouth to anyone considering applying."

The teaching quality and the facilities are fantastic. The location of the University is ideal (in the city centre) and the Marine Station is within a few metres from the sea. The teaching staff are very friendly and helpful.

There is also plenty of support if needed (e.g. for BAME students, students with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ students)."
