What to do if you miss the UCAS deadline

Couldn’t decide if university was for you or not? Changed your mind? Whatever your reason for missing the UCAS deadline, this doesn’t mean it’s too late. Apply within the deadline and each university has to consider your application, but even if you miss the date, then universities are still accepting applications. Here’s what to do…

Don’t panic!
Although you’re guaranteed consideration if you apply by the deadline, there are lots of courses your chosen universities will still be accepting and considering applications for.

Move quickly
If a course is still accepting applications, try to apply through UCAS as soon as possible. The later you leave it, the more chance that the course will become full.

Call ahead
If you find a course you’re interested in, before applying through UCAS it’s worth calling the institution to check if they’re still considering applications. Otherwise there’s no point wasting precious time.

Do your research
Although you should apply as soon as possible, it’s still important to do your research around both the course and university. If successful, you will be studying at this institution for three or more years, so you need to make sure it’s the best decision for you.
