Entry requirements

Update for September 2020 entry

We recognise this is a period of extreme uncertainty for our incoming students and the University of Plymouth welcomes the Government’s announcement that A level results will now be based on centre-assessed grades (CAGs).

For the majority of our programmes*, where we have places available, we are delighted to announce that we will offer you a place based on your confirmed CAGs meeting the entry requirements for that programme.

At Plymouth, you are so much more than just your exam results and we will be adopting a flexible approach to ensure, where possible, that we can support you in joining us.

Please do get in touch with our Clearing call centre on 0333 241 6929.

*On all courses that have an externally determined number cap or a University capacity limit (for example, medicine, dentistry, other health-related programmes, and marine biology), we are happy to discuss your options on a case-by-case basis.

Considering study with us?

It's great that you're thinking of studying with us. We welcome applications from a variety of backgrounds and study routes.

Entry requirements vary depending which course you would like to study, but usually we're looking for a mix of exam grades, subjects and qualifications.

The exact entry requirements you need to meet can be found on course pages.

Additional considerations

It's important to remember that meeting your entry requirements doesn't ensure that you're guaranteed a place with us.

Depending on which course you're applying for, there are often other conditions that may be considered, such as interviews, auditions or Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.

More information about these conditions can be found on our individual course pages.
