Student admissions
The Student Recruitment and Admissions teams, working closely and in partnership with Faculty and other colleagues, are responsible for the marketing of all University courses.
The teams facilitate all marketing activities related to the application and conversion of undergraduate and postgraduate taught students. This includes marketing and conversion strategies, open days, offer holder days, on and offline marketing, liaison with external schools and colleges and much more.

Admissions and Course Enquiries team

The Admissions team is responsible for ensuring a fair, efficient and clear application process for all applicants to undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses across the University. Within this overall aim we look after all application processing, handling enquiries, facilitating academic interviews, assisting with visa applications for non-EU applicants and many other admissions related activities.

The application to study in Plymouth is often the first contact a candidate has with the University so it is the responsibility of the Admissions team to keep customer service, professionalism and accuracy at the forefront of everything we do, thus ensuring an excellent first impression.

Campaigns team

The Student Recruitment Campaigns team is responsible for implementing and delivering a series of coordinated and integrated marketing activities, using a variety of targeted channels. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the team oversees the recruitment campaigns to drive enquiries and applications to the University.

In line with the University's strategic direction, the team provides a service to support the recruitment of our students by linking advertising (online and offline), materials (including the undergraduate and postgraduate prospectus) and a full Customer Relationship Management strategy, including emails and bespoke communications to enquirers, applicants and influencers.

Conversion Events and Outreach

The Conversion Events and Outreach service consists of five key teams – Children’s University, Devon Collaborative Outreach Network, Schools and Colleges Outreach, Widening Participation and Recruitment Events.
Our aim is to ensure that the University reaches out effectively to potential students and those who influence them in line with our strategic ambitions:
  • to build awareness of higher education and of the University through Children’s University team
  • to support aspiration to higher education; encourage educational attainment; and support well-informed choice through the Schools and Colleges Outreach Team
  • developing relationships with schools and colleges, parents and external organisations
  • to address issues affecting access by those from groups under-represented in higher education as part of our University Widening Participation Strategy
  • to support along the applicant journey from enquiry to application to accepting offer to enrolment through our Events Team.
Devon Collaborative Outreach Network
The Government announced funding of £25 million for the development of a national outreach network, to support collaborative approaches in delivering higher education outreach activity to all state-funded secondary schools and colleges. University of Plymouth acts as a lead institution for Devon, working with the University of St. Mark and St. John and Plymouth College of Art as Higher Education Institutions to ensure state-funded schools and colleges have a clear route for accessing information on local outreach events and activities with universities and colleges.

Business Development Team

The Higher Education sector is moving and changing at a faster pace than ever before on a local, national and global scale. To keep up with and, where possible, ahead of this change, Student Recruitment and Admissions have introduced a Business Development Team to assist the work of the rest of the department.

We are here to support the work of colleagues by ensuring that systems and processes are working efficiently and with minimal waste. We want to make sure that colleagues have the data they need, when they need it and in a format that is relevant to the context.

We also want to be ahead of the game by scanning the horizon for issues that we need to prepare for or opportunities that we need to seize.
