Supporting your journey into healthcare professions

We’ve got some exciting opportunities to help you explore what it’s like to study medicine. You’ll get the chance to build your skills, learn something new, and start thinking about your future – all while boosting your university application.

A foundation year bridged the gap to taking the next step to university. I was able to be mentored and to work on my communication skills. When I progressed to the first year, I felt far more confident and prepared. It doesn’t matter what your background is, if you want to go into medicine and make a difference, you can achieve it.

Mastering skills and procedures

The Clinical Skills Resource Centre allows medical students to develop vital clinical and communication skills in a safe, supported environment before experiencing the pressure of a real clinical setting.
The Clinical Skills Resource Centre (CSRC) allows you to learn vital clinical and communication skills in a safe, supported environment before the pressure is on in a real clinical setting. Many of our training rooms are replicas of NHS wards and emergency departments, where you can: undertake physical examinations, conduct patient and family interviews, develop diagnostic skills and perform a variety of practical procedures, such as basic life support.
Clinical Skills Resource Centre (CSRC)

Clinical Skills is where I feel most like a doctor. We learn practical skills of medicine, such as taking blood, patient history and examining patients. The team is supportive and there are excellent simulated patients who dedicate their time to provide you with a comfortable and educational environment to learn in.

Rosie-Jane, BMBS student

The Life Sciences Resource Centre (LSRC) doesn't just feel like a teaching session space; it feels like a space that belongs to us... I especially love to use this space as positive study environment, where my peers and I can teach, revise and practice skills with good company. If I ever need to be productive, I find that the LSRC is one of the best locations to do this.
