Physician Associate students in LSRC

Healthcare systems focused on patient care and safety are dependent on the recruitment, development and retention of high quality people, yet the Francis Report after the Mid Staff scandal revealed a 'toxic' culture.

As a 'first choice destination for health' provider, the University of Plymouth trains and sustains almost all healthcare professions, and invited colleagues to share, debate and learn as this insightful event identified opportunities which provide a critical positive response to this.

The theme running throughout the day focused on how best to impact revalidation of doctors, nurses and midwives through research collaboration and embed the highest standards of professional practice.

This was led by CAMERA who were commissioned by the GMC to explore the impact of revalidation and the Collaboration for Healthcare Professions Educational Research (CHAPtER).

Through interactive workshops and seminars, we identified and engaged with the latest technology particularly virtual reality opportunities, in pushing the boundaries of healthcare and finally explored research's influence on fitness to practise.

With a keynote address, contributions from regional clinical colleagues, a poster session presenting some of the latest doctoral research taking place at the University this event was of value to all those wishing to support and develop healthcare professionals through undertaking or engaging with educational research.
