Students on the hoe, walking on Plymouth hoe
The University offers a January start on a number of postgraduate courses.
If you haven’t studied, want to transfer course, or find a September start isn’t ideal, our January intake gives you the chance to commence your studies at a time that works for you. You will be studying the same course content within the same timeframe as those starting in September. So you can rest assured that you will have the same degree experience but on your terms.

Why choose a January start?

You aren’t ready to start in September

There are a lot of reasons why September starts don’t work for everyone. Perhaps you may want to take resits or spend some time considering your options. We appreciate that it can be a challenging process and a September start may not work for everyone. Maybe you chose the wrong course for you? If you have started a course and realised that this wasn’t the right decision then our January courses can offer you a fresh start.

You need flexibility

Sometimes September starts just don’t work in your schedule, and we understand that, so we are here to offer some flexibility. Perhaps you are a mature student looking to study for the first time or you could be looking to boost your qualifications then a January start date can offer you the flexibility you need. We also have school leavers who are working on internships or taking a mini break, whatever your circumstances, you can relax knowing your place is secure for your January start.

You are unable travel to the UK for a September start
With arranging to come to the UK, the time that takes and the impact of any travel restrictions, many of our international applicants find it easier to start a course with us in January. Joining us in January, you will be welcomed as one of our new students.
