This 60 credit dissertation module will enable you to undertake a dissertation project appropriate to your chosen pathway. You will design, undertake and report on your research project and through this process deepen your understanding of the process of research and link theory to practice in your chosen area.
The module is a core module for all MSc Advanced Professional Practice pathways within the School of Health Professions.

Course details

 By the end of this module you will present a dissertation showing that you can: 
  • design and conduct an individual piece of research in the context of an evaluation of contemporary literature in an appropriate area to your chosen award
  • identify and critically discuss ethical issues for your chosen area
  • critically justify the selection of appropriate methodology and data analysis techniques
  • interpret and critically discuss research findings in the context of contemporary literature, policy and practice in your chosen area.
Assessment
You will be given the opportunity to present your dissertation to your peers and tutor for feedback as a formative assessment.
The summative assessment for this module is a 12-15,000 dissertation report.

Research dissertation – distance learning (ADV716Z)

It is also possible to undertake this module via distance learning. Module content is the same as the taught version but will be delivered by webinars, interactive teaching resources, Skype tutorials and other digital learning tools.

Entry requirements

To be considered for a place on this module: 
  • you must have completed 120 credits in modules linked to any of the MSc Advanced Professional Practice pathways within the School of Health Professions, including the core modules
