Coronavirus (COVID-19) update – 9 September 2020

Drake’s Kitchen, John Bull Café and Loafers Deli have reopened and are serving a selection of hot and cold breakfasts, lunch offers and drinks. We are offering the same great value and low prices using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

We are operating a track and trace system when dining in any of our campus cafés. The NHS-supported system (InkPass) is a straightforward and fully secure user ‘check-in’ solution.

To comply with current requirements, anyone visiting a venue and sitting down to eat or drink will be asked to access the website inkpass.app and follow the instructions to enter their name, phone number, and email address (which they will also need to verify). These details will be encrypted and stored securely and can only be transferred to the NHS track and trace system if there is a positive COVID-19 case at the University.

The cafés are undertaking new safety measures that all customers need to adhere to:

  • social distancing measures are in place when queuing
  • hand sanitiser points are in action on the entrance and after equipment use
  • face masks are mandatory to be worn until seated
  • we are only accepting card payments.
Please note that posters are on display to detail the ‘new normal’ measures. Please be patient at this time and cooperate with our team.

The University offers a range of catering facilities for students, staff and visitors on campus. All eating areas are modern, self-service operations and prices are lower than many non-University outlets.

Fairtrade and locally produced products are widely promoted and the University operates a comprehensive recycling programme.

Hospitality

We offer a variety of options to suit your hospitality needs. We aim to use as much locally produced free-range and Fairtrade ingredients in all our buffets and hamper packages.

Most needs can be catered for including gluten-free and vegan buffets, however, if you require any particular menu for your event please do not hesitate to contact us and we can create a bespoke menu, tailored to your occasion.

Our talented catering staff are available during the normal working week and out of hours at additional rates. We use the same ethical suppliers and purchasing on our hospitality menus as in our cafes, so you can enjoy our food and drink with the knowledge we do what we can no matter where you dine with us.

Our hospitality packages are designed to make your day easier, more enjoyable and to fit within your available budgets. When you book your rooms, please check you have separate spaces and tables for your catering to be served on or additional breakout spaces to minimise the disruption to your guests.

All hospitality orders carry a minimum charge of £25.00 including delivery.

To meet hospitality requests bookings are required 48 hours before the event. Late orders may not be accepted.

We have opened our first cafe, The Container on the ground floor of the Roland Levinsky Building. Our team have executed a delicious, high-quality menu creating handmade food using locally sourced produce. The Container is well worth a visit as the unique cafe has been refurbished from an old shipping container.

We are continuing to operate our ‘Hospitality Shop’ where we are stocking a range of food hampers such as our homemade cream tea option, savoury cheese scones, picnic box, and many more. From our local suppliers, we can also source and supply fresh produce such as eggs, milk and bread.

Our services are open to all, we are happy to accommodate external functions.

We want to thank you all for your continued support.
