Welcome to LABplus

LABplus is an open access laboratory and flexible learning space designed to support your practical and laboratory skills. LABplus is located on the 7th floor of the Davy Building, University of Plymouth campus. If you would like to know more about this space, please contact or visit us.

LABplus contains a variety of equipment, features and resources to support all University of Plymouth students studying science and engineering courses. Please contact or visit us to find out what is available for you.

The lab contains:

  • flexible desk space suitable for group and individual project work 
  • TV screens available for presentation practice 
  • printing and photocopying facilities 
  • access to sinks and distilled water
  • laptops available for use in LABplus. Laptops available to borrow from the technician’s office located in the corner of LABplus (room 706). Please bring your student card with you
  • microscopes:
    high power compound microscopes (1000x magnification)
    low power dissecting microscopes (45x magnification)
    polarising microscopes
    metrological microscopes
    microscopes with mounted cameras 

LABplus also contains over 100 resources that are designed to support individual courses and modules. Please visit the resources page for a full list of what is currently available to you. LABplus outreach

LABplus welcomes visiting schools and community groups throughout the year. The unique and flexible laboratory space offers visitors a chance to engage with a variety of science taster workshops. Example workshops include:

  • crime scene investigators
  • natural history
  • investigating landscape change 
  • DNA extraction
  • exploring your senses
  • nutrition
  • habitats
  • laboratory tours.
