What you'll need to pay if you are studying for a research degree

Please use the tables below to find your tuition fee if you are new or existing postgraduate research (PGR) student in 2023-24.
PGR programmes include: PhD, MPhil, ResM, MD, DPA, DBA, EdD, EngD and DClinPsy. Further information on the different types of research degrees. Information on fees for the Doctor of Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) can be obtained from Michele Thomas, Course Administrator.
Please note that the MRes is a postgraduate taught programme and attracts a taught tuition fee.

 ** Students need approval from the Doctoral College Quality Sub-Committee for any period of time over and beyond the normal period of registration for their programme of study.

*** One-off fee must be paid in full even if submission occurs within 12 months.

Funding for postgraduate research students

If you are considering starting a postgraduate research course, you could get help to pay for your course and living costs. You may be eligible for a Postgraduate Masters Loan or a Postdoctoral Masters Loan. There are also a variety of scholarships and discounts available.
