Applying to university and sitting your exams
We know that deciding what you'd like to do next, while also preparing for and sitting exams, then waiting for results, can be stressful. Please remember however that grades are just one element which tells us about you and your potential. If exams don’t go to plan, or you're not quite decided, we're here to help find the best route forward based on your whole application. This is your decision on what you would most like to do!
Flexibility with your grades
In recent years, we have been able to accept students who have made us their firm choice but not quite achieved the grades as set out in their offer. Our offers are designed to be aspirational, providing grades to aim for, but we don't only give places to those who meet the exact offer we made. You may achieve fewer or more tariff points, and once you know what you've achieved, we can confirm with you what you can do at Plymouth. We’re committed to offering this level of flexibility to our firm choice applicants this summer.

The next steps you need to take to start a course in 2026

1
If you have offers from universities, great!
Compare your offers and think about which one feels most right for you. When you have a favourite, make that your firm choice. Remember, you also get the chance to choose another university as your reserve, by making it your insurance choice.
Ready to accept? Let us know as soon as you can so we can plan your welcome

Choose Plymouth!
If you have an offer from us and you like the sound of it, accept before the UCAS ‘decline by default’ deadline, or you’ll have declined your place.
Check your UCAS Hub for your personal reply deadline
5
If you’ve applied but have no offers
Keep going…you can add another choice using UCAS Extra up until 1 July 2026.  After this, you can still apply and your application will be entered into Clearing.

If you haven’t applied yet
You still have time to get that application in before 30 June 2026. Still too soon? Or reading this after 30 June? Then have a look at the next step.

If you want to keep your options open
Just not sure what you’d like to do? You’re not the only one! Book a campus tour at a time that suits you, browse course web pages and chat to students to see what you like. You can still apply to study this September through Clearing.
