Key features

This 20 credit module is offered at degree and masters level and will enable you to develop your existing professional skills in neonatal care.
Throughout this module, you will build on your existing neonatal nursing knowledge to undertake comprehensive health assessments through history taking, clinical examination, diagnosis and documentation.
At degree level, this module will enable you to utilise your knowledge within the clinical decision-making process to participate in the development of initial treatment and management strategies.
At masters level, this module contributes towards the attainment of Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner qualification, ultimately enabling you to facilitate
the clinical decision-making process and independently develop treatment and management strategies.
This module can be studied as a standalone module at both levels, as an optional module towards some of our
BSc (Hons) Professional Development pathways at degree level or as a core module towards the
MSc Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner programme at masters level.
This module is delivered by University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, in partnership with the University of Plymouth, at the Derriford Hospital site in close proximity to the clinical area of a level three neonatal service.
This enables specialist clinicians and allied health professionals to contribute directly to the taught content ensuring clinical currency and high-quality theory-practice links throughout the taught component.
