We give our students the skills to fully forge their futures in today’s fast evolving art and design industries of communication, entertainment, fashion, manufacturing and information.

With excellent staff contact and access to workshop and digital facilities, we provide an atmosphere of adventure and enquiry within a traditional studio context. Small and intimate in numbers; yet broad and outward looking in attitude.

The Illustration curriculum is arguably one of the broadest; embracing objective and subjective drawing, design for screen, creative writing, print-making, autonomous practice, topography, bookworks, multimedia, graphic design, typography, photography, design research.
We help students to discover their own direction and individual voice via a series of challenging and stimulating projects and practical workshops.

We enjoy close associations with other departments within the Faculty such as Fine Art, Media Arts and Theatre and Performance. We are also currently developing further opportunities for under and postgraduate study in areas such as animation, multimedia design and narrative.

We have a thriving community and like to keep in contact via our typepad website, here you will find information on competitions, links to student websites and other information that will give you a feel for the richness of opportunity that we offer. We are also currently developing further opportunities for undergraduate study in areas such as animation, graphic novel, printmaking and children’s markets.
