The University of Plymouth has been shortlisted for a national award recognising its work with employers to boost student and graduate career opportunities.

The Institute of Student Employers (ISE) awards celebrate outstanding work with early career talent, and Plymouth has made the final four in the Best University and Employer Engagement Strategy.

The recognition follows the University's top-five placing for work experience opportunities. Winners of the ISE awards will be announced in June.

The Institute of Student Employers (ISE) is such an important professional body in the graduate recruitment space, made up of over 300 employers and many education providers, so to get through to the final four in the ‘Best University & Employer Engagement Strategy’ category is wonderful recognition for the team and University.

We’re thrilled that our strategy, which really puts a spotlight on generating the best opportunities possible for our students and grads, and raising the profile of the South West, has struck a chord with the judges. Lots of hard work has gone into this, so fingers crossed for June.

Creating and delivering opportunities

The University works closely with a range of employers – from big companies to small businesses – to provide opportunities to students and graduates, including part-time work, volunteering, placements and internships.

The team has focused on engaging with businesses and stakeholders across the South West to maximise those opportunities, introducing micro-internships – up to 10 days with a local organisation on a defined project – and a careers fair dedicated to opportunities within the region.

We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this national award!

We’re very proud of our regional links and ensure every employer and student can get the most out of the support we offer.

Employers are aware of how a student or early-career Plymouth graduate could support their business, and likewise our students and graduates are aware of the opportunities on their doorstep and beyond.

We know how much employability matters to students, and we are talking to more and more people at our open days about the sorts of opportunities we have available.
