 This was a past course delivered by The Future is Green. 
This event explored how community-led renewable energy projects could deliver unparalleled social, environmental, and economic benefits right here in our region.
Delivered in collaboration with Net Zero Hub, this was an opportunity to gain practical insights, connect with others, and explore the growing support and funding available to help bring rooftop solar ambitions to life.
The course walked through the practical steps for delivering successful community energy projects, focusing on rooftop solar, highlighting available funding, and helping connect with key organisations and individuals driving change. 
This course was fully funded for organisations in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly through the Future is Green project.

What learners could gain

  • State of the Sector: Understanding the national and regional picture, from Great British Energy to Local Area Energy Plans.
  • Expert Guidance and Practical Insights: Learned from industry experts and successful community energy groups about creating and managing community energy schemes, and gained practical insights through interactive workshops and breakout sessions.
  • Unlock Funding and Support: Discovered the growing funding opportunities and support available for community energy projects, including early project development and feasibility funding, to help turn vision into reality.
  • Collaborative Networking: Connected with community organisations, businesses, public sector bodies, and commercial developers to explore partnerships, share knowledge, and collaborate on innovative renewable energy projects that maximise social value. Community energy empowers local communities to take democratic control over their energy future, enhancing energy awareness and literacy.
 
 

Future is Green

The Future is Green was a collaborative project that delivered skills development courses and programmes to individuals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to support the development of skills needed for the future green economy.
The project was being delivered by the Net-Zero Exchange  team, within the Sustainable Earth Institute  at the University of Plymouth.

This course was part of the Future is Green project which was funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council was responsible for managing projects funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund proactively supports delivery of the UK-government's five national missions: pushing power out to communities everywhere, with a specific focus to help kickstart economic growth and promoting opportunities in all parts of the UK.
