The 28th May is Menstrual Hygiene Day. Globally millions of women and girls are stigmatised, excluded and discriminated against simply because they menstruate. Because of a natural bodily function women and girls continue to be prevented from getting an education, earning an income and fully and equally participating in everyday life.
The University of Plymouth Women’s Network invite you to join them in marking Menstrual Hygiene Day with a showing of the 2019 Academy Award-winning Netflix Documentary Short, Period. End of Sentence. The documentary aims to inspire people everywhere to think globally and recognise the impact young people can have. It follows the women of Kathikhera, a village outside of New Delhi, India, as they install a machine and sell their pads throughout their district.
This showing is free and open to all University staff and students. There will also be a limited number of free menstrual cups being given away!
Doors open at 18:00 for 18:30 start.
Email womensnetwork@plymouth.ac.uk to register attendance.
