Why does the first price we see influence what we think something is worth? Why can simply changing the way options are presented alter the choice we make? And why do other people’s choices make us more likely to follow?
In this interactive subject taster session with Dr Xiazhao Chen, we will explore three powerful ideas from consumer behaviour - anchoring, choice architecture, and social influence - and discover how marketers use insights into human decision-making to shape the choices we make every day.
The session will introduce prospective business management, economics, finance and marketing students to some of the fascinating ideas behind consumer behaviour and show how marketing is not simply about advertising products, but about understanding how people think, decide, and behave.
