The South West Liver Unit provides a comprehensive portfolio of clinical research and clinical trials at the Lind Clinical Research Centre.
Therapeutic intervention trials
Therapeutic intervention trials are open and actively recruiting for new treatments for:
  • Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
  • Hepatitis C
  • Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC)
  • Alcoholic Hepatitis
  • Long term ascitic drains.
National registry studies
We are also conducting national registry studies for:
  • NASH (EPoS)
  • UK AIH
  • HCV Research UK
  • UK PBC.

Recent recruitment successes have included:
Regenerate Trial – We have been the highest recruiter to the phase 3 NASH trial outside of North America.
Clinical research capabilities include:
Multiparametric MRI (Healthy liver and NASH liver images below; with permission Perspectum diagnostics).
