What is EPIC?

eHealth Productivity and Innovation in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (EPIC) is a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary project, initially funded in 2017 by a grant of £2.7 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the South West Academic Health Science Network (AHSN), and received a further £4m to extend the project until 2023.

Led by the University’s Centre for Health Technology, EPIC is fuelled by invaluable input from a large number of partners, organisations and individuals across the South West, including healthcare trusts, charities, social enterprises, patient groups, and students.

Using this input, EPIC aims to facilitate a sustainable eHealth sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, by maximising innovation networks, sharing expertise and experience from the University and our partner organisations, and providing sector-specific hands-on business support.

The project offered Cornish businesses the opportunity to apply to the £600,000 EPIC Challenge Fund, which has awarded 42 grants to support the development of new eHealth innovations. The development of a thriving eHealth sector will not only create new jobs, new products and support the local economy, but will strengthen the existing health and care network in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Enabling new technological innovations to be created and adopted, to improve the quality of life and boost well being for all.
