The University of Plymouth has been featured in a major project marking the 200th anniversary of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
To mark its bicentenary in 2018, ICE – in partnership with publisher St James’s House – has produced a commemorative album entitled Shaping the World.
The book showcases the 200 structures and engineering projects that have had the greatest impact on our lives, and celebrates the individuals and organisations that deliver the vital infrastructure we all rely on.
The University, which launched its School of Engineering in May 2017, is one of the organisations profiled in the book with a particular focus on its research into coastal engineering and offshore renewable energy.
Its chapter mentions the Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport (COAST) Laboratory, and how it is used by developers from across Europe, as well as a number of related courses such as the MSc Marine Renewable Energy and a new MSc in Advanced Engineering Design.
