Land LawAn introduction to principles of land law, in particular, concepts of real property and personal property, the difference between legal and equitable property interests, proprietary estoppel, third party rights in land and the registered and unregistered land system, trusts of land, easements and profits, covenants, mortgages and adverse possession.

Equity and TrustsThe law of equity and trusts; historical development of equity; law and equity today; the role of equity; equitable maxims; the creation of trusts including secret trusts and the three certainties; implied trusts of the home; purpose trusts, charitable trusts; the role of trustees and the administration of trusts; remedies available to beneficiaries for breach of trust.

International and European LawAn introduction to key aspects of EU law, in particular EU institutions, Sources of EU law, Enforcement of EU law: Direct Action, Direct effect, indirect effect and state liability, Free movement of workers, Free movement of goods. International law will take a comparative angle on contemporary issues such as human rights, diversity and criminal law.

DissertationThis module will require students to develop a research question based on their own area of interest and develop a research strategy in order to test the question. Data collected will be analysed and the findings of the research will be reported in a way that is relevant to the discipline.

Students will consider areas of law that businesses need to navigate including commercial property, contracts, intellectual property rights, professional negligence, reputation, safety at work and sustainability. Students will then explore processes surrounding the recruitment and management of staff

Pro-BonoDecreases in Legal Aid and economic pressures has limited access to justice and increased Litigants in Person and vulnerable people particularly in areas like debt, housing, family, welfare and mental health. The College is working with front line organisations to develop opportunities for members of the public to access support. This module enables students to work with professionals to help provide access to justice.

Environmental LawStudents will develop understanding of legal avenues available to mitigate environmental damage. They will be introduced to legislation that governs issues that compromise environmental quality and will extend thinking from local agendas to develop through to global strategies to combat environmental harm. Students will think critically about the adequacy of current environmental protection and consider future law reform.

Tuition fee price changes
In November 2024, the UK Government announced an increase to tuition fees and maintenance support for 2025/26 academic year, setting the standard tuition fee and student maintenance loan at £9,535 per year and the University’s tuition fees were increased to this rate.
The UK Government has indicated that further fee increases may be announced this year and in subsequent years. If the UK Government does so, the University may increase annual tuition fees in subsequent years, which may include the fees for the 2026/2027 academic year, in line with the Student Contract and all times in line with the maximum tuition fee caps set by the Government.
