What is Enterprise Solutions?

Enterprise Solutions helps you to navigate your way to the University of Plymouth’s internationally renowned research expertise, facilities and business services. It connects you to the right support that meets your organisation’s needs.

The University works with hundreds of organisations, both large and small, to find innovative solutions to the challenges they face. This could involve joint research and development projects, access to our innovation centres or science park or accessing student talent or academic expertise.

Enterprise Solutions can assist businesses and public or third sector organisations to tap into our services, injecting new thinking to support and drive innovation.

R&D Solutions Fund 2023

Following the highly successful 2021 and 2022 R&D Solutions Fund, the University of Plymouth Research & Innovation Team are delighted to announce a new R&D Solutions Fund grant. Grants of up to £20,000 are available to solve business problems through encouraging strong academic and business collaborations.
The fund responds to the need to develop new products and services for existing and emerging markets nationally and internationally, where the research intensity of our university can accelerate that innovation process.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)

A KTP is a partnership between a university and a company to work on a challenging and innovative project which will transfer new knowledge/expertise into the business and extend research. A KTP Associate is employed to deliver the programme of work and the 12 to 36 month project is co-funded through an Innovate UK grant and the participating company.
If you want to grow your business through collaboration and innovation, KTP is the programme that has the power you need to get ahead of the competition.

PhD offer for industries

Solve your organisation's challenges in creative and imaginative ways by working with the brightest minds.
As a business, you can fund a PhD student or engage with a group of doctorate students. This will give you a dedicated and diverse expert resource to focus on a specific business challenge. Companies also enhance their competitiveness and innovation through knowledge transfer with universities and research institutions.

University–business collaborations awarded share of £100,000

Five new research collaborations with industry have been awarded a share of £100,000 to fund innovative new projects across science, engineering and health.

From tackling sediment erosion to investigating the antimicrobial properties of ‘essential oils’ and the development of a low-cost robotic arm for fruit and veg harvesting, each new project brings together academics at the University of Plymouth with a business partner.
