Outdoors

Our spacious garden is located underneath the nursery rooms, providing an all-weather outdoor environment for the children to use. The children access the garden throughout the day and are given free access to the resources. Our garden ensures that the children can both learn and take risks in a controlled, safe environment and provides them with an area to be both physical and imaginative in their play.

Thursday 10 March saw the opening of a new play area for Freshlings Nursery. The new area contains a variety of natural objects such as tree trunks and sand and is designed to engage children as much as possible. In addition, a cohort of architecture students conceptualised, designed and constructed an interactive outside area in the adjacent space. The funding for the project came from a Plymouth City Council grant, matched by investment from the University and University Commercial Services Plymouth.
