This course is open to anyone with an interest in maritime and ship-related cyber security and is designed to support participants from a wide range of backgrounds. It is particularly suited to multidisciplinary researchers and students, maritime professionals with little or no prior cyber security knowledge, cyber security practitioners seeking to understand maritime and shipboard contexts, and individuals from outside the sector who are interested in how cyber risk affects ships and maritime operations.
No specialist technical or maritime expertise is required. The course is structured to establish a shared baseline of understanding, using accessible explanations and real maritime examples to enable meaningful participation across disciplines.
Participants will:
  • Understand how cyber threats manifest in shipboard and maritime operational environments
  • Recognise common vulnerabilities in maritime IT and OT systems
  • Appreciate the safety, operational, and organisational implications of cyber incidents
  • Develop cyber risk awareness relevant to their professional role
  • Gain CPD-recognised learning grounded in real maritime contexts
