Be a part of Global Week; discover opportunities and make connections.

Are you interested in working or studying outside of the UK during your studies? Are you an international student and want to know more about how you can create a community? You might be a member of staff or a student who would like to know more about our Languages Café.

Global Week is for you.  

Join us in the Student Hub from Monday 14 November to Friday 18 November to find out more about the opportunities available to you. 
We also want you to tell us about your experiences of working or studying outside the UK, and the connections you have made. Students who contribute to our world map with their experiences will have the chance of winning a shopping voucher. So, whether you are part of the Global Buddies, or have attended the International Student Meet Up, come and share your experiences and encourage others to join in.

GoinGlobal - drop in and find out about GoinGlobal - the market leader in helping job seekers of all nationalities fast track their career explorations both at home and abroad. Created by country experts, GoinGlobal features worldwide job and internship resources for more than 120 locations, including location-specific career guides, key corporate profiles, a proprietary H1B visa search engine and 16 million-plus job and internship postings.

Find out about the Languages Café - a welcoming space on campus where you can have a free hot drink and meet and talk to students, staff, and members of the local community in English, French, Spanish, Italian and more! Every Wednesday 13.00–14.00 in Cookworthy 108.
Wednesday 16 November, 12:00–14:00
Drop-in on our Study Abroad team in the Hub to find out about opportunities to study abroad and to meet up with recently returned and recently arrived study abroad students and share your experiences, tips and stories.
Wednesday 16 November, 18:00–20:30
A free film screening of Granada Nights, where a British tourist struggles with a broken heart as he befriends a group of young international students and immerses himself in the study abroad scene. The showing will be followed by a Q&A with the writer and director, Abid Khan and some of our recently returned study abroad students. Register your place.
Thursday 17 November, 12:00–13:00
Discover the amazing free courses and resources available to develop your academic English skills. Enrol on our DLE site to access face to face classes, pre-recorded workshops or to study online. Or join The HELLO Project and meet and make new friends with students already studying in Plymouth.
Friday 18 November, 10:00–13:00
Share your experiences on our world map to win a shopping voucher. Meet the Careers Mentoring team and find out about finding a mentor linked to your career path from either the UK or abroad.

Global Recipe Book

The Global Week collaboration aims to share recipes from around the world. The Catering Team welcome students and staff to share their favourite recipes to be included in our first 'Global Recipe Book', which will be released in PDF format. 
Recipe submissions will be accepted by Monday 7 November. Please send these to catering@plymouth.ac.uk and our team will be able to process them for the Global Recipe Book.
What we need:
  • Dish name
  • Ingredients list
  • Method
  • Photo (desirable)
  • Any other information
Our team of expert chefs are available to discuss menus and offer any money saving or cooking tips, ingredients, method advice etc. 
We will also be offering the opportunity for our cafes to cook these recipes as part of their daily specials between the 14–18 November (Global Week). Dependent on the number of recipe submissions, these meals will be chosen via a vote on social media.
