Computers can do amazing things, from recognising images and recommending what to watch next to helping autonomous systems make decisions, but how does a computer actually know what to do?
Join Dr Shaymaa Al-Juboori in this interactive subject taster session, who will start with a simple problem and explore how you can turn it into instructions that a computer will understand.
You will look at the journey from problem-solving and algorithms to simple programming, before exploring how these ideas connect to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
There will be a few short interactive challenges along the way, giving you a taste of what it is like to study computer science at the University of Plymouth. To attend this session, you do not need to have any previous programming experience!
