Arrival and registration

The undergraduate open day runs from 9:00–16:30.

On arrival to the campus, please collect your goody bag and register your attendance with a member of the registration team in the Roland Levinsky Building. The registration team will talk you through the programme for the day and answer any questions you may have. We strongly advise that you check the times of the talks and subject sessions that you are interested in, as some sessions are only run once.

Plan your day

To help you plan your day in advance we will send you a digital copy of the programme one week before the event via email.

A full printed version of the programme will also be available for you to collect from registration when you arrive at the open day.

Activities for the below courses will be held at our Peninsula Allied Health Centre (PAHC) on the North Campus, you are more than welcome to head directly there should you wish. 

However, should you wish to visit the Main Campus to take a campus, city or accommodation tour, speak to our student support services or attend one of our central talks – we do have a complimentary shuttle bus running between PAHC and the Main Campus (details of which will be in your programme).

Parking and travel information

There are plenty of car parks in the city centre within walking distance of the University.

Stuart Road Car Park offers 150 parking spaces and operates a free shuttle service with drop off directly at the University.

There are also various park and ride locations on the outskirts of the city that can be used as an alternative to the central car parks.

Travel by bus

As part of a partnership with Plymouth Citybus we are offering visitors the opportunity to park and ride for free at the George Park and Ride Site (PL6 7HB) and to use our 42/42A/42C services direct to both the University of Plymouth and our site at Peninsula Allied Health Centre. These services operate every 15 minutes to both campuses. In addition, we are then opening up the rest of the bus network for you to explore, so if you are coming from elsewhere in our wonderful city or from further afield please visit plymouthbus.co.uk to explore our network.

All you need to do is show your invitation to the applicant/open day to the driver on the date in question and this will grant you access to our services. This offer is valid for up to four passengers and any additional passengers will be charged accordingly (day ticket £4.70).

  • The Open Days GWR travel offer is only available for travel on GWR services only. If travelling from or within a region of the country that is not part of the GWR network you may need to purchase separate tickets to the chosen destination.
  • The destination must be relevant to the University you have received the link from, i.e. Plymouth for the University of Plymouth, etc. 
  • Origin of journey must be within the GWR network, but please note that Advance Purchase tickets are not available for short distance journeys.
  • The scheme is only available for use with Advance Purchase tickets. These set times and dates of travel and are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.
  • The Open Days GWR travel offer is available for the dates provided by each university and the week that the event takes place, running Saturday to the next Sunday. So stay for more than a day to get a feel for the local scene.
  • The scheme is combinable with the 16–25 Railcard. Simply tick the box on the page by “Passengers” and select from the drop down box.
  • The booking link URL is unique to the University of Plymouth and cannot be used for destinations other than specified.

GWR train offer FAQs

What is an ‘Advanced Purchase Ticket’?
‘Advance Purchase’ refers to a ticket that can be purchased up to 18:00hrs (6pm) the day before travel, subject to availability. Once purchased, it is non-flexible (ie. unable to change times or dates travel) and non-refundable.

I cannot see the discounted fare.
‘Advance Purchase’ for the student fare are denoted by a small cross against the ticket price. If there is no red cross shown, then the ‘Advance purchase fare for that day may have sold out. Once the discounted fare has been chosen an asterisk ‘*’ will be displayed underneath the fares section.

The link to the booking page does not work. Where can I get assistance?
You may need to update your internet browser, we advise using Google Chrome or Firefox. There may be a need to clear your ‘cookies’

I cannot see the promotional fare.
Travel is only available on GWR routes, check the entirety of the journey is on GWR. Please also check the booking horizon. Sales open for Advance Purchase 12 weeks before travel.

I still cannot see or book the student discount fare.
Please call the GWR call centre for advice on 0345 700 0125, options 2, then 2 again.

Event photography and video

Please be aware that some of the University of Plymouth's public events may be attended by University photographers and videographers, for capturing content to be used in University online and offline marketing and promotional materials, for example webpages, brochures or leaflets. If for whatever reason, you or a member of your group, do not wish to be photographed, please make yourself known to staff working at the event on arrival or to the photographer.
