Teaching interests

SUM:UP- I am a tutor at the university's SUM:UP Mathematics and Statistics drop-in. Especially happy to talk about R!
MATH501 Modelling and Analytics for Data Science - I assist in computer labs for this module where students are introduced to commonly implemented regression based and machine learning models in data science.
MATH513 Big Data and Social Network Visualization - I assist in computer labs where students are introduced to techniques for analysing big data in R.
MATH525 Business Analytics - I assist in tutorials where students are introduced to business data analytical processes.
BIOM5005 Project Design and Development - I taught the Statistics lectures in 2021/22 to MSc Biomedical Science students to introduce them to commonly used statistical methods used to analyse biomedical data.
Outreach
I ran workshops for Year 10 pupils from across Devon and Cornwall about the Capture-Recapture method for estimating population sizes. The workshop was part of the Year 10 taster days organised by Dr Jenny Sharp at the University of Plymouth.
For a Year 12 workshop I designed and ran a session introducing students to statistical prediction modelling, including variable selection techniques and measures of evaluating models. Students were able to build their own prediction model using a Shiny app. This was part of a virtual Year 12 workshop organised by Dr James Edwards at the University of Plymouth.

Research interests

I am interested in developing statistical methodology with applications in medicine. My PhD research focuses on developing and validating clinical prediction models for semi-competing survival outcomes in kidney transplant recipients.
