All interviews will be held virtually via Zoom for the coming year, and we encourage applicants to visit us during an offer holder day to immerse yourself in our on campus facilities.

Courses

BA (Hons) Drama / BA (Hons) Drama with Foundation

We do not ask for audition material to be provided for our BA (Hons) Drama course. 
If you have been invited to attend interview you will need to select a suitable time using the booking link sent to you.
The interview process focuses on whom you are and what you hope to gain from studying drama at Plymouth.
Interviews will be conducted by a member of our staff, and will last approx. 30 minutes. We are interested in hearing about:
  • Your interests.
  • What excites you most about theatre.
  • What you hope to learn and experience while at Plymouth.
  • Where you envision yourself after graduation.

BA (Hons) Acting / BA (Hons) Acting with Foundation

As standard, all applicants will be asked to provide audition material as part of the application process.
Audition material
You will be required to record a performance of two, short contrasting theatre monologues of your choice. 
  • You should perform both pieces from memory. 
  • You can use your phone or other device to film yourself, but make sure that your whole body is in the frame.
  • At the beginning of your recordings please state the following: your name and the course you are applying for, followed by the title of your monologue.
When choosing your monologues, choose pieces that feature the kind of characters that you would like to play. And for both pieces, don't forget to enjoy yourself!
Informal interview
Our admissions tutors will review your audition material to decide whether your application can progress to the next stage. Should you be successful, you will be invited to an informal interview with our admissions tutor.
Our interviews provide an excellent opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us a little better.
Our BA (Hons) Acting interviews will be conducted by a member of our acting staff, and will last approximately 20 minutes.

BA (Hons) Musical Theatre / BA (Hons) Musical Theatre with Foundation

As standard, all applicants will be asked to provide audition material as part of the application process.
Audition material
1. A song from the Musical Theatre repertoire.
2. A short monologue from a play or theatre piece of your choice.
Instructions
  • You should perform both pieces from memory. 
  • You can use your phone or other device to film yourself, but make sure that your whole body is in the frame.
  • At the beginning of your recordings please state the following: your name and the course you are applying for, followed by the title of your song or monologue.
  • If you are using a backing track for your song, please make sure that we can hear the track as well. Please don't sing along to a track that only you can hear through headphones.
  • If you have live musical accompaniment, make sure that your voice can be heard above the piano or keyboard, but please don’t play accompanying music yourself.
When choosing a song, think about Words, Character, Story. We want to see you act the song. For the monologue, choose a piece that features the kind of character that you would like to play. And for both pieces, don't forget to enjoy yourself!
