PUPSMD medical statistics teaching

Staff within the Medical Statistics group are actively involved in the teaching of statistics to undergraduate medical students and postgraduate taught programme students.

Teaching of statistics to undergraduate medical students takes place primarily within the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) evidence based practice (EBP) programme in Year 1 and Year 2. Topics include basic statistics, understanding p-values and confidence intervals, study design, diagnostic accuracy studies, clinical trials and meta-analysis. Postgraduate taught programme students are offered one-to-one clinics with a statistician if they need statistical advice for their dissertations.
