What is Clearing?
Clearing is how universities fill their remaining course spaces for the year. Historically, people have seen it as a way to get into university if your grades weren’t so good, but the dial has shifted and plenty of people come through Clearing because they did better than they expected. Ultimately, it’s about giving students choices. If you did better, worse or just changed your mind on what and where to study – Clearing can help you find where you belong.
Who can apply?
Anyone can apply to university through Clearing. If you’ve already applied somewhere, not quite achieved the grades you wanted, or done better than you’d expected – it’s open to all.
What courses are available?
Each university will have different courses and availability. Here at Plymouth, we have a list on our website – ranging from accounting to zoology. There’s something for everyone, so take a look.
How do you apply?
Every university will have its own processes, so follow them online. Here at Plymouth, all you need to do now is register your interest on our website. This means you’ll receive expert guidance, early alerts and access to Plymouth’s priority Clearing hotline on results day. When you have your results, visit our website or call us to see what you’re eligible to apply for. Then you can get your Clearing offer of a place on the course for you.
And finally…
Don’t panic! I remember my own nervous wait for A Level results, and the even more nervous wait with my sons. But whatever your outcome and whatever you want to achieve, we are here and waiting to help.
