Ashfords marine prize winners

The Ashfords Prizes and Scholarships have been led by Professor Richard Thompson OBE FRS, Director of the University’s Marine Institute. Over the course of the partnership 16 students have benefited from the law firms’ support.

He said of the prize: “This is the third year of this generous support from Ashfords and we are pleased to partner with them again to recognise students with real promise in the field of environmental research. The University of Plymouth has an excellent reputation for its research and teaching across the marine sector. Our students are a key part of that with many of our undergraduate and master’s students getting their research published in the peer reviewed literature. Wining a prize or scholarship is a fantastic way to start your career – well done to all.”

Professor Kevin Jones, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, added: “We are proud of the work our students do in this field and it is encouraging to have a local firm supporting them in this way. It has been a difficult 18 months for our students but their resilience and determination is recognised as they graduate and we welcome Ashfords to be a part of this celebration.”
