UKVI Compliance Team

Please note that from the 5 October 2020, UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) are launching a new immigration system that will include a new Student Route, and Child Student Route.

The Student Route will replace Tier 4 so over the next few months we will replace the term “Tier 4” where this is mentioned on our webpages and in documents, and instead will refer to the “Student Route”.

We do not anticipate that there will be any significant changes in visa requirements for our current Tier 4 students, but we will advise students further once the full sponsorship guidance and immigration rules for the new route are published and in use.

The UKVI Compliance Team works to maintain University of Plymouth's Student visa (formerly Tier 4) Sponsor status with the UK Home Office whilst supporting international student recruitment.

Working closely with colleagues across the whole University, we also provide guidance and expertise for both students and staff for all matters concerning the UK Home Office and students with a Student visa especially:

  • engagement monitoring
  • UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Student visa sponsor guidance
  • international student enrolments, record keeping and fulfilling the University's sponsorship duties.

Whilst we are a separate team from International Student Advice, we work very closely with them, supporting their work to provide an excellent student experience for all our international students.

The UK Home Office policies regarding international students are updated regularly. We monitor these changes and update University policies, providing accurate and up to date guidance to colleagues and students.
