Exhibitions, open studios, trips and visiting artists

Develop your professional practice and engage with different audiences, through multiple opportunities to test your work, such as on- and off-campus pop-up shows and exhibitions, open studios and test spaces.  Our programme of talks by visiting artists, curators and critics and opportunities to take part in international trips further underpins your advancement and development.

“Our experiences on the fine art degree allowed us to develop skills in research, experimentation, resourcefulness and self-discipline and to become confident in showing and talking about our work and ideas to public audiences.” Rachel Dobbs and Hannah Jones LOW PROFILE

Degree Show

Showcase your final project in a faculty-wide exhibition alongside students from our 12 art and design degrees. The Degree Show is your chance to introduce friends and family, your new creative network and art community, prospective employers and the general public to your work.

The Degree Show is a flagship event in the city-wide Ignite Festival of Creativity, which over two weeks showcases the skills and knowledge available through Plymouth’s leading creative institutions, students, alumni and local practitioners.

The Ignite Festival is led by a partnership between the University of Plymouth, Plymouth College of Art and Plymouth City Council as part of the iMayflower project.

Fine art study opportunities and events

Fine art at the University of Plymouth offers a unique opportunity for students to follow their own path through a range of subject areas and forms of expression. We offer a broad-based programme of study at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the cutting edge of contemporary art practice.

Studio practice lies at the core of this, alongside the development of theoretical and research skills, underpinned by international trips, regular exhibitions, open studios and a talks programme of visiting artists, curators and critics.
