Plymouth Electron Microscopy Centre

An introduction to Electron Microscopy at Plymouth

These seminars are designed to introduce Plymouth Electron Microscopy Centre (PEMC), including our instruments and capabilities, procedures and policies, examples of current research and case studies, relevant staff contacts etc., before opening up for questions and further discussion within each subject area. They will be led by the PEMC team, and provide an opportunity for staff and research students to ask any questions they may have about the use of electron microscopy in their work.

We will also introduce the School user group for each area, including the relevant School Representative for our PEMC Management Board, and provide further information about how to request support for teaching or training as part of undergraduate programmes. No booking is required for these sessions.

Workshop sessions at PEMC

Following on from the Introduction to Electron Microscopy seminars, these practical sessions allow interested parties to come along to PEMC and see the equipment in action for themselves. All instruments will be in operation, and a range of relevant materials will be available for observation and analysis as part of these workshops. These practical sessions are subject-specific and designed to be hands on. As a working laboratory, these sessions will be timed slots and offered with a maximum capacity in each slot to ensure that we meet the relevant health and safety requirements of the facility.

To make a booking for the relevant workshop session in your area, please email the contact listed below. Please note, attendance at the previous ‘Introduction to Electron Microscopy’ seminar is required before attending a workshop session.
