I have always lived in Cornwall and trained as a Registered General Nurse at the Royal Cornwall School of Nursing (Truro). I went on to obtain my BSc (Hons) in Health Studies and MSc in Advanced Professional Practice with the University of Plymouth.

My clinical practice has primarily been within the community, general practice and strategic nursing. I have experience as a Community nurse, a General practice nurse (GPN), a Non-medical prescribing minor illness nurse and an Urgent care matron. Alongside my University post, I also work as a Strategic Lead Nurse for general practice nursing for Cornwall & IoS Integrated Care board. This allows me to have first-hand experience and knowledge to apply in my teaching, ensuring information is current and relevant to student learning and academia.

In 2017, I was awarded the title of Queen's Nurse, in recognition of commitment to high standards of patient care and continually improving practice
