Mr Shaen Milward

School of Health Professions (Faculty of Health)
Occupational Therapy Lecturer/ Placement Facilitator
I graduated from the University of Plymouth Occupational Therapy School. Soon after qualification, I worked in stroke rehabilitation and community mental health. I went on to work in the third sector, on a vanguard project supporting those with sight loss (project spanning health, social care and the third sector).
I have spent many years working in palliative care where I managed and worked clinically, leading a small team of therapists (Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy). My team and I supported clients in community and inpatient settings.
I hold a MA in Education, for which I studied at Plymouth Marjon University. My dissertation considered the link between Coaching as a method of support in aiding the transition from student to registered Occupational Therapist.
I currently teach at another local university, leading modules in advanced coaching and mentoring, leadership and management, at level 7.
Additionally, I work with the University of Plymouth Peninsula Medical School as a reflective practice portfolio assessor. In recent years I also facilitated ‘Jigsaw’ sessions at the medical school.
