Saul Whitford

Knowledge Exchange and Impact Officer (Net-Zero Exchange)

Faculty of Science and Engineering

Saul has over 20 years experience, predominately in the manufacturing sector and also in tourism, hospitality, charity and fashion. He helps businesses at a strategic level to understand the significance of what they do, their impacts on a wide range of stakeholders, develop actionable implementation plans and how to articulate and express a clear and concise narrative to ensure engagement.
In 2012 he was instrumental in winning the Environmental Printer of the Year award after implementing a combined ISO 9001 and 14001, Quality and Environmental Management system at Pepper Communications.
Saul is now at the Sustainable Earth Institute leading Knowledge Exchange at the Net Zero Exchange project. The project aims to help organisations in the Greater South West Region on their journeys as we race to Net Zero, by developing and delivering a range of courses to empower and engage participants, providing them with the skills, knowledge and tools to drive impact and positive outcomes in their organisations as they transition to a greener more sustainable future. He has a passion for carbon credits and the voluntary carbon market as well as those businesses offering innovative solutions within the space. He also has a keen interest in blockchain, web3 and AI and how this will affect the sustainability landscape in the future. In his free time, Saul loves nothing more than being out in the wild, whether that's on the water surfing or sailing, or on land running or mountain biking.

Roles on external bodies

Saul sits on the Committee for Climate Change at his local parish council and is Trustee responsible for Sustainability at newly formed food education charity Fair Share.
