Biography
Biography
I grew up in West-Germany, but have felt very much connected to Europe and the wider world, both culturally and through my travels. I have had an early passion for all things creative and have been an autodidact artist for most of my early life. I experienced the reunification of Germany while living in East Berlin, and had some very formative years there. My life has been eventful so far, and I have enjoyed learning about languages and cultures, doing many different work experiences and meeting people from different walks of life. In the mid 90s, fortune brought me to Devon, UK, where I have been living ever since. In 2008, while on a spiritual journey, I discovered how important it is for me in my professional life to work and feel more connected with people. Soon thereafter, I spontaneously enrolled in a counselling training course. After qualifying in 2012, I wanted to gain relevant work experience, and felt a strong pull towards the University of Plymouth. Excited that I was successful to secure a volunteering position as an associate counsellor, I later joined the counselling team at Student Wellbeing Services in a professional role. It is still exciting to be here, to be part of this complex educational institution, and to meet people on their journey. I aim to provide my clients with a safe, inspiring and insightful environment. I have (some valuable) experience of being a counselling client in my own right.
