About Paula
Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Centre for Environmental Hepatology
My primary research focus is on understanding how environmental toxins—particularly microplastics and nanoplastics—contribute to liver injury, inflammation, and fibrosis. To investigate these questions, I have developed the precision-cut liver slice technology at the University of Plymouth. This advanced ex vivo model preserves the liver’s complex architecture, immunocompetency, and multicellular interactions, providing a powerful tool for studying liver pathophysiology in a controlled environment.
