About Paula
Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Centre of Environmental Hepatology
My research explores how environmental toxins, especially microplastics and nanoplastics, drive liver injury, inflammation, and fibrosis. I have developed and optimized human precision-cut liver slice technology at the University of Plymouth, an ex-vivo model that preserves the liver’s architecture, immune function, and multicellular interactions. This platform provides an unprecedented opportunity to dissect liver pathophysiology and the toxicological impact of emerging environmental contaminants.
