Mrs Jo Smith

My current role focuses mainly on the operational aspects of managing a large infrastructure health services research grant, working across the Universities of Plymouth and Exeter, and alongside many health and social care partners in the South West. I am responsible for financial reporting and forecasting, contracting, employee relations and management, PhD support, line management and peer support. I sit on multiple Executive and Management groups across both Universities, not limited to research areas. Part of my NIHR PenCLAHRC role is also to ensure that strategic relationships are developed and maintained with healthcare and public sector bodies across the South West

Roles on external bodies

I am an active member on the Board of Trustees for the Plymouth and Devon Racial Equality Council (PDREC). Our organisational remit includes casework, victim care, supporting BAME community groups, a benefits advice service, training and strategic partnerships with other organisations. In addition to mentoring the Office Manager, I also provide HR advice to the Board and actively support the writing of funding bids.
