Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice

School of Nursing and Midwifery (Faculty of Health)

I am an nurse by back ground and have had the most wonderful opportunity to share my time between being an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Emergency Medicine in ED at Treliske as well as teaching on the Advanced Practice Programme here at UoP. I sit on the Association of Advanced practice Educators (UK) (AAPEUK) committee and the RCN's ANP forum at a national level. I have recently achieved Fellow of the Higher education Academy status after completing my PGCert in Academic Practice.

I am currently lecturing on the Advanced Professional Practice (Clinical Practitioner) and Advanced Clinical Practitioner apprenticeship programmes within the Faculty of Health under the School of Nursing and Midwifery. I lead on the clinical assessment skills module APP710. I have a passion to drive forward clinical roles within nursing, para-medicine and other allied health professions to equip learners, who are experienced clinicians within their own right, with advanced consultation skills, decision making and diagnostic skills to help the progression of non-medical advanced practice within the NHS. I am still actively working in the NHS as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Emergency Medicine which ties in nicely with frameworks such as Heath Education England's (HEE) advanced practice agenda, the RCN Advanced Clinical Practice credentialing service and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) ACP curriculum.
