About Eleanor
Dr Eleanor Hodgson is a Curriculum Designer, working collaboratively with the University of Plymouth and the Met Office on a new PGDip in Operational Meteorology. Drawing on extensive expertise in curriculum design, educational development, and professional learning, Eleanor works with subject matter experts, educators, and stakeholders to develop engaging programmes that foster learner success and professional excellence.
Eleanor brings more than a decade of experience across higher education, secondary education, and educational enhancement. Throughout her career, she has held a diverse range of academic and professional roles, equipping her with a deep understanding of both teaching and learning and the strategic, organisational, and human factors that shape successful educational environments.
Prior to joining the University of Plymouth, Eleanor was a Senior Educator Developer and Director of the ASPIRE Professional Recognition Pathway at the University of Exeter, where she supported colleagues in enhancing their educational practice and achieving professional recognition through Advance HE fellowship schemes.
Originally trained in French studies, Eleanor completed a PhD in Medieval French at the University of Sheffield before transitioning into educational development and curriculum design. Her academic background, combined with her experience across teaching, educational leadership, and professional services, informs a collaborative and reflective approach to learning design.
Eleanor's professional interests include curriculum innovation, assessment and feedback, reflective learning, inclusive pedagogy, professional recognition, and the development of effective learning environments for diverse audiences. Through her work, she is committed to creating meaningful educational experiences that empower learners, support educators, and contribute to excellence in professional practice.
