Biography

Biography

Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Plymouth University. I am particularly involved in the teaching of neurology and focus on pathology such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and Guillain Barre syndrome. I am Year 3 tutor and work within a small programme admissions team.

Qualifications

I graduated from York St John University in 2005 and have worked within the NHS and private sector providing assessment and treatment to individuals with neurological impairment in the North West.

We moved to Devon and in 2016 I graduated with distinction in MSc Advanced Professional Practice in Neurological Rehabilitation at Plymouth University. I began to deliver some teaching within the undergraduate programme and undertook a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice to develop my individual teaching style.

Whilst teaching, I was a Research Fellow on the SUMS (Standing Up in MS) is a multi-centre randomised controlled trial to assess the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a home based self management standing frame programme in people with progressive multiple sclerosis. I was responsible for the set-up and day to day running of this trial at the Plymouth site working under the guidance of Dr Jenny Freeman.

I continue in a teaching role whilst also providing neuro rehab to clients in the private sector which maintains my clinical expertise and currency.
