Hand putting money into a piggy bank

The University of Plymouth is giving away £10,000, split between ten lucky students, thanks to funding from Santander.
The Brighter Futures Grant is a new initiative, developed in partnership with Santander Universities, aimed at providing students with funding to support their studies.
Grants can be spent on a variety of purposes including on living expenses such as accommodation and bills, or on study resources such as laptops, textbooks and stationery to aid your learning.
They are available to all University of Plymouth students including undergraduates, postgraduates, foundation year, part-time and full-time students. And you do not need to be a Santander customer.

Students can apply for the £1,000 grants from Sunday 1 October through to the deadline of Tuesday 30 November.

Gloria Scheid is a University of Plymouth student who is already benefitting from financial support courtesy of Santander Universities.

I’m a first year Biomedical Student and I have been lucky enough to win the Santander Universities £30k Scholars Programme, through the University of Plymouth. The bursary is £10,000 per year for 3 years which has already made a massive difference to me! The most important thing the award has enabled me to do is to have a full dyslexia test which I could not afford before. When I started university, I was struggling a bit and it was suggested that I may be dyslexic. Being able to pay for a full assessment, which confirmed I am dyslexic, means I can now access the support I need to achieve. I now feel a lot more confident heading in to my second year.

The bursary has also helped cover my living costs, enabled me to take part in some additional courses, undertake additional reading and join more clubs & societies. Winning this has been life-changing for me and means I can fully enjoy the university experience. I’m really enjoying my course and exploring career options which will allow me to combine my love of languages with my academic learning. I never thought I could win but, you never know you might win, I am so glad I applied!
