Celebrating our new partnership with the University of Lahore

Representatives from the University of Plymouth travelled to Pakistan, recently, to mark the launch of a new transnational education (TNE) partnership.
A celebratory event in the country’s capital, Islamabad, was a landmark occasion that brought together academic leaders, senior government representatives, international diplomats and other VIPs.
And the launch symbolised the meeting of two academic communities with a shared ambition to open new horizons for the next generation.
Among the distinguished guests was Her Excellency Jane Marriott CMG OBE, British High Commissioner to Pakistan.
Her address highlighted the longstanding educational ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom and the role that partnerships between their institutions can play in creating opportunities for students and academics.
The event was part of a wider visit by a delegation from Plymouth, led by Professor Bogdan Ghita, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Transnational Education.

My visit to the University of Lahore was an extremely positive experience. I was particularly impressed by the scale and energy of the campus.

What stood out most was the strength of the partnership between our universities. That spirit of collaboration was evident throughout the visit and across every interaction.

Professor Ghita added:
I was particularly proud to wear the partnership T-shirt with the message "Be a Global Citizen at UoL with a UK Degree." The slogan captures the essence of the partnership: providing students with access to a UK qualification while studying within a vibrant local environment, and equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and international outlook needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
The University of Lahore was established in 1999 under the Ibadat Educational Trust. It provides undergraduate, postgraduate and professional education across disciplines including medicine and dentistry, engineering, information technology, management, law, sciences, arts and social sciences.
And it now offers 17 University of Plymouth degree programmes, in subjects ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Psychology.
